Battery tests cover IEEE1725 standard

TUV Product Service has been appointed by the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) as a Battery Certification Reviewing Organisation (BCRO). The BCRO scheme officially came into force on 16th October 2006 and requires that battery packs used in mobile devices intended for connection to networks such as Verizon and Cingular, comply with the requirements of the recently published IEEE1725 standard for rechargeable batteries for cellular telephones. The standard covers requirements for the battery pack itself, the host device, AC/DC adapters, reliability, security, and validation.

It is expected that this certification requirement will be mandatory from 2007 in order to obtain PTCRB approval.

TUV Product Service is the only appointed BCRO outside of North America and is working with internationally recognised experts to offer a complete consultancy, testing and certification service.

The company is an active participating member of the CTIA Battery Ad-hoc Certification Program Working Group, which means it is constantly up to date and has access to the latest news and developments.
