Electronic recycling information is put onlineBespoke electronic recycling information centre provides comprehensive cradle-to-grave tracking of all WEEE.Repic, the Recycling Electrical Producers' Consortium, has unveiled the latest string to its bow with the launch of ERIC - a bespoke electronic recycling information centre. The unique web-based system provides comprehensive cradle-to-grave tracking of all WEEE (waste, electronic and electrical equipment) giving Repic members reassurance that all WEEE collected, will be tracked from point of collection, through treatment and on to evidence generation. Repic believes the new ERIC system will minimise hassle and cost as it gives all approved personnel quick, secure access to the system, to obtain a unique load number for each collection of WEEE of each type from every designated collection facility (DCF) Dr Philip Morton, Chief Executive of Repic comments: 'Our unique tracking system gives all our members piece of mind that we can monitor where every load of their end of life products came from and has gone to. 'ERIC also gives us the facility to monitor all our WEEE compliance targets, ensure our costs to members are transparent, low, and auditable, and regularly check that the whole process is working to the best possible standards'. ERIC is so versatile that producers who sign up to the Repic compliance scheme can input all their required 2006 sales data direct onto the system. The system is designed to accept totals for each EEE category or producers can use it as an online tool to calculate their obligation line by line and work out the totals for them. This is then securely stored along with all the other members' data and used to provide an accurate breakdown of their market share by weight. ERIC will use this data to produce individual producer invoices for the charges in relation to the collection of WEEE and the payments to Repic's service provides. |
