Producer compliance scheme is ready for WEEE

Environ has set up a producer compliance scheme for business-to-business WEEE in the UK. The scheme, open to both UK producers and foreign manufacturers using distributors in the UK, will offer major benefits to its members in terms of service and flexibility. Members will have the option of arranging the collecting, treating and recycling of WEEE themselves or continuing with existing WEEE collection and recycling arrangements.

The UK WEEE regulations will require all UK producers to join an approved producer compliance scheme by 15th March 2007.

Schemes can start recruiting members from the date of their approval by the Environment Agency up until the 15th March deadline.

Environ's scheme should receive approval in early February which will give producers the opportunity to join well before the deadline.

To start preparing for the new regulations, interested parties can register as prospective members with Environ's B2BWEEE-scheme free of charge and without obligation.
